Summary Child and Adolescent Mental Health in Social Work: A Casebook is a comprehensive text on child and adolescent mental disorders that social workers commonly see in their field and employment settings. Assessment and intervention practices and processes for common child and adolescent mental health concerns are discussed. Assessment topics include biopsychosocial-cultural/spiritual risk and resilience, American Psychiatric Association Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM), standardized assessment scales, and best practices for multi-informant, multimethod assessment. Intervention topics include evidence-based psychotherapy, medication, and the process of evidence-based practice with children and adolescents. Detailed case examples illustrate the implementation of evidence-based interventions with diverse and traditionally underserved client populations, and research is integrated throughout. The social work context is integrated throughout by considering the complexities of multiple system levels involved with the occurrence of mental disorders and youth adjustment and recovery and the professional ethics and demeanor when working with impoverished, diverse, and vulnerable youth populations in interdisciplinary settings. Interdisciplinary team membership and delivery of services across a range of contexts that social workers may practice in are represented
